NATIONAL BRASS BAND CHAMPIONSHIPS OF GREAT BRITAIN 2019 SECTION 2 FINAL RESULTS:

What fantastic weekend we had competing at our 3rd 'Nationals Finals' in 4 years! This year, the band were battling for the place as Section 2 champions, and were tasked with performing Edward Gregson's 4 movement suite, 'Occasion'. The band were drawn 14th and put on a musical and accurate performance that we were proud of! Unfortunately, this opinion did not lie with the adjudicators, and we were placed 15th out of 18 bands. A disappointing result given the weeks of hard work. Despite this, what a great and exciting time we had at the event! It was a great chance to listen to the other bands and catch up with friends! More importantly, what an achievement to reach the nationals in the first place, representing Newport and Wales alike, and we are very proud of that. We’re also very proud of the new players on Soprano Cornet, Trombone, Bb Bass and Percussion who stepped in to join the band at the Nationals! Let’s hope your places with us can be made more permanent. Also a special mention to Soprano Cornet player Christine Barnett who made her debut on percussion! We’d like to say a huge thank you, firstly to Robin, for being an inspiration to us all, and doing wonders for the band, secondly to the players for your commitment and dedication to the band, but also to everyone who continues to support us as we progress through the rankings!
